Physiotherapist

Ian DeBack

I have been a licensed and practicing physical therapist since graduating from the University of Saskatchewan in 2002. Since that time I have had extensive experience working in a private out-patient orthopedic setting with a variable caseload of primary and secondary treatment of WCB, SGI, and privately funded patients. This caseload has involved all age groups along with both acute and chronic injuries alike. As well, I have had the opportunity to be involved as a chairperson of a multidisciplinary assessment team (MD, Chiropractor, Psychology) attempting to solve chronic and complex physical injuries. Some personal special interests include work and sport injuries, spinal injuries, TMJ dysfunction, vestibular/balance disorders, and IMS (dry needling).

My treatment approach has relied heavily on manual therapy assessment and treatment, developed through over 22 years of practice and post-graduate training in the Canadian Academy of Manual and Manipulative Physical Therapy. I feel manual or ‘hands-on’ therapy creates optimal outcomes and I incorporate this into my daily practice. Short and long-term outcomes also rely heavily on therapeutic exercise and I educate and encourage this approach as appropriate for the injury and client.

Personally, I have had a strong background in many competitive sports, having played for the Saskatoon Hilltops and the University of Saskatchewan Huskie football teams (1994 – 1998). I have a continuing interest in weightlifting, as well as various other recreational sports. However, my true passions include my wife, three children, and a strong community of extended family, friends, and church.
